Crackdown by Council on Illegal Waste

There was an article in the Shropshire Star Commercial Property section (Tuesday October 12th 2010) reporting on the Shropshire Council's Environmental Maintenance team getting tough on commercial waste being illegally disposed of and companies not having Waste Transfer Notes to back-up their disposal. See below part of the article:

"Council in Illegal Waste Crackdown

Shropshire Council's environmental maintenance team is reminding all businesses to dispose of their commercial waste legally - or risk a £300 fine or prosecution.

To tackle the problem of illegal waste disposal, the council is serving legal notices on premises suspected of not fulfilling their duty of care.

These notices require a business to provide written proof - known as Waste Transfer Notes - that their waste is being disposed of legally by a licensed contractor. If sufficient proof cannot be provided, the business is liable to a £300 Fixed Penalty Notice or prosecution."

As the article mentions, it's vital that companies use licensed service providers that can offer the correct and legal paperwork. Here at XPO IT Services, we always supply every company with a Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note and Certificate of Disposal to back up their secure IT and electrical disposal with us.
