Overall Volume of WEEE Collections Last year fell 3% from 2012

In order to reach the WEEE collection target for 2014, WEEE volume needs to rise by 3%

It has recently been reported that an addition 3% of WEEE collection is needed in order to reach the target for 2014. The proposed overall target for this year is 490,000 tonnes, which is a 3% increase (15,289 tonnes) on the total amount collected in 2013.

The Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) has set out proposed targets for collections of 13 categories of WEEE in the 2014 compliance period

It is suggested that although there may be difficulty in collecting the extra 14,000 tonnes for cooling appliances with refrigerants, the previous results from the last two quarters shows that this target is realistic and achievable.
